No, we have a program for adults that can be both fun and challenging.
Yes, they are both certified personal trainers with AFTA and they are also trained in CPR/AED and First Aid.
The sessions are 45 to 90 minutes depending on the age and difficulties presented by the youth (ex. behavior difficulties, etc.). We assess the capacities of each person to establish a fun yet challenging program.
Mindful and Fit is an organization that aims to help people reach their full potential through mindful physical exercise. In general, mindful physical exercise contains the following key elements: a non-competitive, non-judgmental component; muscular movement awareness; centered breathing; and a focus on proper physical form.
Strength training can help kids and teens build healthy muscles, joints, and bones. With a properly designed and supervised program, they can improve endurance, total fitness level, and sports performance. Strength training can even help prevent injuries and speed up recovery.
Yes, Julie has been working with children and teenagers for the last 18 years. Wayne has coached football programs for youth for a number of years, he worked in a rehabilitation center for a few years and he has had children of his own.
Julie is a licensed Psychoeducator and she has over 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in the mental health field.
Each participant will have to fill a preparticipation questionnaire (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire; PAR-Q). This information will help the trainers determine whether a physician’s consent is required before proceeding with the exercise program.
Yes, each participant has a personalized goal sheet.
Yes, these informations will be consigned in a personal file for each participant.
Yes, safety is our main priority. Therefore, we cannot accommodate spectators during the sessions. However, the trainers are available to speak to you about the programming and your child's progress. Throughout the year, some parent-child activities may be organized to allow parents to experience the activities we offer.
Yes, in order to insure safety and prevent further injuries, the trainers should be made aware of any ailments you might have. The trainers might ask you to provide them with a physician’s consent before proceeding with the exercise program
We aim to integrate all youth in our programs. However, if the trainers find that integrating a youth into a group is not serving the youth and/or the group’s best interest, they might recommend individual sessions. The parents will be advised of any proposed changes. A reintegration in a group could be proposed eventually if the young person progresses sufficiently on an individual basis.
Referrals from health and school professionals are welcome for any child and adolescent that presents with behavioural and/or emotional difficulties. We aim to provide individualized programs to work through the challenging behaviours using exercise and other techniques. In doing so, we teach the youth constructive ways to deal with their difficulties as well as help them to develop prosocial behaviours toward their peers.
